A major challenge and opportunity exists. Pre-college level computer science course work needs to be aimed at establishing broad basic knowledge, educating as many students as possible in the core principals, concepts and vocabulary of computer science. The latest ACM and IEEE joint task force on computer science curriculum (CS2013) holds the outward-looking view that sees CS as a discipline needs to be actively seeking to work with and integrate into (many) other disciplines.
